Doncaster Rugby Club

After struggling to get a team up today the girls put on a magnificent performance of which everyone concerned were very proud.  Instead of having the twelve players that had confirmed only nine showed up.  After a lot of ringing and texting we finally managed to get a tenth player to allow the game to go ahead.

Darlington opened the scoring in the first five minutes and the Demons knew they had a match and a half on their hands.  The Darlington pack overpowered us almost every time.  The Demons best chance to score came just before half time when some quick hands by Psycho, Jimmy Crankie and Beanie led to Cindy being on her own with no one to beat but a late decision to pass meant that Darlington got the ball again.  Not to be out done Cindy tackled the two Darlington players to stop them getting a breakaway try.  Unfortunately for the Demons this led to Cindy being taken off with and injury to her ankle.  Thankfully this is not as serious as first thought. By half time the score was Twenty – Nil.

During the second half the Demons seemed to tackle everyone in sight and defended fantastically.  An awesome tackle from Trumpet left her winded and the quick tap and go by Jimmy Crankie was blown up by the ref, this was unfortunate as wee Jimmy was away and half way down the pitch before the whistle.  Darlington seemed to have 99% of the possession in the last ten minutes but Psycho, Trumpet and Lara Croft did the most bone crunching, flying tackles meant that we kept them out for eight minutes only for Darlington to break through for their sixth and final try.  The final score was Doncaster Demons Nil – Darlington Thirty Two.

A good game was had by all.  The Demons played with heart, spirit and enthusiasm.  Nobody could’ve asked for any more.
