Doncaster Colts travelled to face Eccles Colts in a pre season fixture  last Sunday.

It was a good day for rugby - both sides agreeing to play 4 x 20 min  games.

Eccles are  one of the best side in Lancashire, had a big squad of about 25 +players, with Doncaster turning out a squad of about 20 players on the day.

Doncaster Colts were a very young side with only 5 of last year’s  playing and the others being the new colts this year. Despite only having had only one training session prior to this fixture the colts looked a promising outfit. The forwards at times dominated the big Eccles forwards and in spells the backs worked well in open play.

Doncaster colts were punished for the mistakes and the score line does not reflect the match results- these were all very close games.

On the whole the coaches thought the lads put in a very good team performance and will now concentrate on the areas needing improvement identified during the game.

With a little more coordination we will see the team gel together and produce winning results.
