Further Information on Doncaster Demons:

The game started well, the Demons should have scored, but a turnover by York led to a try.  In fact the first half was going all York’s way.  The Demons managed to keep York from the try line by some terrific tackling from Psycho, Trump and Lara Croft.  To be fair all the Demons defended well.  At half time the score was 0-5 against the Demons.

After a brief chat with Laurel and Hardy at the interval the second half began with much promise, with the Demons applying much pressure to the York lines.  However, despite the efforts of the Demons York managed a breakaway try leading to a 0–10 advantage.

Lara Croft, the Demons Captain soloed wide from the half way mark and came round under the sticks for an easy conversion, making the score 7-10.  From the kick off the Demons gained the possession back from York which almost led to a scoring move, however stern defence from the opposition caused a turnover, and again York scored. 7-15.   The Demons again had possession and with quick ball Psycho playing at stand off, had a fantastic show and go, to ghost under the uprights, again resulting in an easy conversion. 14-15 and game on.  With morale high the Demons created four phases of good ball to send Jimmy Cranky to score wide.  Unfortunately the angle was too much to add the extra points.  With the scores at 19-15 in favour of the Demons, victory seemed a certainty.  With only 10 minutes to play the Demons got giddy and the York girls got stronger.  The Demons conceded 2 unanswered tries, one of which they also converted.  The final whistle blew with York becoming winners by 27-19.

The Doncaster Demons displayed great character and some real moments of rugby magic against a very organised and talented York R.I team.  A big congratulations to all involved.
