On an ideal night for rugby a competitive match between two good sides saw the Knights come from behind to secure a 27-16 victory. An early 10 point lead courtesy of a Dave Scully try, converted by Tom Luke who then added a penalty, was cut back by two visitor penalties for a 10-6 half time lead. After the break Chris Planchant extended the home lead to 15-6 before Nottingham replied with a goal ande a penalty to go a point in front at 15-16. It was only in the last 5 minutes that the Knights conjured up two wonderful tries. The first was a length of the field break out up the right touch line, in which Scully proved the vital link with Bev Wilkinson up in support to finish the sweeping move off. And at the death Chris Planchant finished off a move involving backs and forwards slick handling, and good referee advantage, to seal a thoroughly deserved win. |
