Further Information on Doncaster Dragons:

A couple of close range tries from Drew Noble helped the Dragons secure a 29 – 17 victory in their season opener against Mosborough 2nd XV. The warm and dry conditions looked to suit the visitors expansive running game; but youth, enthusiasm, speed, fitness and numerous replacements proved no match for the bulk, strength and guile of the Dragons to slow the game down and keep it tight. In addition to Noble’s brace, it was Phil Mills and Thighs Nithsdale who added to four of the Dragon’s five tries to come from quality rolling mauls. Glenn The Smiling Assassin Storey was the only Dragon to break into anything like a sprint to ghost through unopposed under the sticks early in the second half. Overall a very competitive game and a solid start to the season for the veterans. Credit to the lads from Mosborough who played their heart out and stayed behind to enjoy a few beers afterwards.

There was absolutely no talk in the bar later that Donna Thomas (wife of the Dragons captain) would be keeping a low profile following an unfortunate incident at ASDA midweek. It transpires that the pair had driven to the supermarket only to have their car break down in the car park. The Captain told Donna to carry on with the shopping while he fixed the car. She returned later to see a small group of people in close proximity to the vehicle. On closer inspection, she saw a pair of hairy legs protruding from under the chassis. Unfortunately, although the man was in shorts, his askew briefs turned his private parts into glaringly public ones. Unable to stand the embarrassment she dutifully stepped forward, put her hand UP his shorts and with the speed of a magician expertly tucked everything back into place. On regaining her feet, she looked across the bonnet and found herself staring directly at her husband leaning against the driver’s door slowly shaking his head. Car mechanic and Dragons’ fly-half Dave Millar, however, had to have three stitches in his forehead. Thankfully he will be fit for this week’s fixture away at East Riding Vikings, Hull.
