Storey uses get of Jail Free Card.

This was a game of two halfs where in the first half Phoenix were outplayed and went into the break 20 points to nil down.

The first half saw the visitors dominant in teir forays and had the best of the set and with the normal Phoenix trusty line out not functioning there was only one side in it. Making use of the conditions and the their larger pack saw the Goole side bang in three tries, a conversion and a penalty.

Making ise of the hill it was then Phoenix's turn to use the advantage and camp in Goole territory, the first came after Phoenix forward gained territory which saw Storey pick up off the line out and barge over for a converted try.

Storey then bagged a brace but this time failed with the conversion he then missed a simple conversion but by now Phoenix were in the ascendancy which saw 2 Goole players yellow carded for killing the ball when Phoenix were pressuring the line.

Sykes at centre then reduced the deficit to a single point when he banged over and Storey added the kick.

With seven minutes remaining Phoenix then failed to gain ground advantage and allowed the Goole pack to make home territory and Phoenix impeded and the penalty was converted. The game then looked out of home side reach when Sykes high tackled in front of the posts allowing the easiest of opportunities for a relaible kicker.

With the last throw of the dice Phoenix pressure to the right and the Goole defence kicked left. The bounce of the ball was fortutetous when a grateful Maddock collected and went over in the corner. The words of coach Senior to his fly half must have been the impetus he required - ' kick this and its a draw Jono - No pressure then! Storey then stepped up and popped the kick over to Phoenix glee and Goole dismay!
