The Knights will have six games in the space of seven weeks in a Mini World Cup scenario, with three home matches at Castle Park. The first of these kicks off Stage two, the promotion play-offs. It is a home tie on Friday evening (9th March) against league-leaders Bristol.
Bristol did the double over the Knights during Stage One, winning 12- 38 in the first game at Castle Park and demolishing the Knights by a seven-try 52 – 26 in the last game which was played at Bristol’s Memorial Stadium.
By finishing Stage One in eighth position the Knights start the promotion play-offs with no points. Finishing first gives Bristol three points to start the play-offs. No doubt Bristol are the overwhelming favourites to be victorious on Friday and their sights are firmly set on returning to the Premiership.
Knight’s fans shouldn’t be despondent; Leeds Carnegie suffered a slightly worse demolition by the Cornish Pirates as they scored 16 fewer points (a seven-try, 52 -10). They were then were victorious against the Pirates at Headingley Carnegie Stadium last December (14 – 13).
Bristol’s confidence will be high after their last easy victory over the Knights but can the Knights pull off a surprise as they defend their Castle against Bristol’s marauders for the second time this season?
Bristol must aim to win every game as the likes of London Welsh in Pool A and Bedford Blues and the Cornish Pirates in Pool B are hot for promotion
The Knights have nothing to lose and can ‘throw caution to the wind’, so it should be a very entertaining and high-scoring game.
K.O. 7.45, Castle Park Friday 9th March – as Mal said, bring your mates and support this Friday evening game.

Although it’s a different stage of the Championship, it’s still the same competition:
Bristol’s winger George Watkins was the Championship’s equal third top try scorer after Stage One. Jack Tovey (centre/right wing) was tenth and centre Fautua Otto was fifteenth.
Tovey normally plays just inside Watkins but occasionally takes Watkins' place on the wing. Between them Watkins and Tovey have scored nineteen tries, if one of these had scored all of them, they’d be the top try scorer in the Championship.

Watkins scored a hatrick against the Knights at the Memorial Stadium last time out and full back Jonathan Goodridge scored a brace of tries.

All three Yorkshire clubs involved in the play offs got a mention on Look North at 7.30 this morning - but Doncaster got the bit of filming and interviewing of Brett, whilst Leeds and Rotherham did not - is that an offshoot of being a Friday night game??
