Who are the Doncaster Knights?
Doncaster Knights are the most promoted team in English Rugby history and will ply their trade the Greene King IPA Championship for the 2014/15 season. Following an immediate return to English Rugby’s second tier after relegation in 2013/14 under stewardship of Clive Griffiths. The Knights now embark on a challenging season where they will hope to consolidate a place in the Championship a build for a future where they can be looking up towards the Premiership.
The club owns their, aptly named, Castle Park stadium which is a 22-acre site 4 miles from Doncaster town centre. It is a superb multi-purpose facility and the envy of many a visiting team. Confirmation of the outstanding facilities at Castle Park and the first rate job the match day and operations staff do came with the selection as host venue for the Maori All Blacks vs RFU Championship XV in November 2013, which saw 5000 people watch the notorious Southern Hemisphere side triumph in a celebration of tier two rugby. On a Recent visit to the club former England international and World Cup winner Mike Catt said “The facilities here are better than a lot of Premiership sides have, you guys are very lucky, it is a great ground to work from so fingers crossed the Knights can have a very successful season this year.”

DRFC rebranded as the Knights in 2006, an easy decision as they play at Castle Park. The Knights are a full time professional outfit and are relishing the prospect of the upcoming season in SSE National Divison One. Doncaster Knights are an ambitious club hoping for a successful season on the return to the Greene King Championship and to be a competitive force within the division. The 2014/15 season will see the Knights renew acquaintances with county rivals Rotherham Titans and Yorkshire Carnegie in clashes that promise to provide a feast of high calibre rugby from Yorkshire’s finest Clubs.
As part of the commitment to the family game Castle Park, the home of the Doncaster Knights has some of the best Rugby viewing facilities in South Yorkshire. The state of the art £2.2m De Mulder Lloyd has spacious 12 person corporate boxes for hire on match days for a full season catered for from the award winning Castle Park kitchens. The Clubside Restaurant opens match days for 3-course meal hospitality and you can book a table or individual places to enjoy before stepping out of your seat for the game.
Individual suites of varying sizes can be booked to host various match day offers from company days out to private parties enjoying the game. “The Farmers” and the “TOSSERS” are two examples of private parties that regularly enjoy our state of the art hospitality facilities and we welcome any individual or group that may wish to enquire.
