Jack Davies to Join Fellow Championship Side Hartpury

We can announce that lock/back row Jack Davies will leave Doncaster Knights to join Championship side, Hartpury, ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The 26-year-old forward originally signed for the Knights from Premiership side Bath in the summer of 2020 having made five appearances for the club.

Featuring in the Knights pack in 18 out of 20 league games this season, along with 3 Championship Cup appearances, Jack has been an energetic figure on the field and a constant source of positive morale and laughter for his teammates throughout the season.

Jack has loved the time he has spent with his Knights teammates and believes the memories made with them will stay with him.

“I’m massively proud to have played a part in the last two seasons for the Knights. The friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime and I’m looking forward to catching up with the boys in the future.

“I’ve appreciated the support from the fans for the duration of my time at Castle Park and I am sure that next season the squad will continue to exceed expectations.”

We wish Jack all the very best at Hartpury and look forward to welcoming him back to Castle Park as a member of the opposition in the 2022/23 season.

Sam Olver Re-Signs with the Knights Ahead of 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce that fly half Sam Olver has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Sam first joined the club in December 2018 on loan from Ealing Trailfinders following his time in the top-flight with Northampton Saints and Worcester Warriors. During the 2021/22 season Sam made 19 appearances in the league as well as playing in 3 cup fixtures – scoring 1 try, 33 conversions and 24 penalties as he easily led the way as the Knights top points scorer.

A confident man-manager on the field, Sam is now one of the more senior players amongst the Knights squad and will likely be pivotal to the on-field leadership of Steve Boden’s team heading into the new season.

“I’m really excited to be staying at Doncaster Knights. What the players and coaches have built over the last few seasons makes it a great environment to be in, and one where you have to push and challenge yourself, week on week.”

Billy McBryde Re-Signs with the Knights Ahead of 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce that full back Billy McBryde has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Billy first joined the club in June 2020 from RGC 1404 in the Welsh Premiership. During the 2021/22 season Billy made 19 appearances in the league as well as playing in 3 cup fixtures – scoring 4 tries and 4 conversions in the process.

A very personable player, Billy is another fan-favourite who has delighted fans – both at home and away – many times in this past season, with his breakaway interception tries against Ealing Trailfinders of specific note.

Billy is thrilled to be continuing his connection with the Knights and developing more under the coaching set-up alongside his many returning teammates.

“It was an easy decision to re-sign with the Knights. Over the last two seasons we’ve built something special as a group and it’s really exciting to be a part of.

“The coaching staff have been great from the moment I arrived and I’m grateful for the opportunity to stay and work alongside them once again.

“It’s exciting to see so many other teammates re-signing and puts us in a position to go one step further next season.”

Fraser Strachan to Remain a Knight for 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to confirm that centre Fraser Strachan will remain a Knight for the 2022/23 season.

Fraser first joined the club in 2021 from Championship rivals, Ealing Trailfinders. During the 2021/22 season Fraser made 14 appearances in the league as well as playing in 4 cup fixtures.

A cheery face to have amongst the squad, Fraser has adapted well to an ever-changing centre partnership as the Knights forged through the 2021/22 season with four extremely capable centres to choose from for the 12 and 13 jerseys. Fraser will be looking to develop on his form next season as the competition at centre will surely be just as strong.

Connor Edwards to Remain a Knight for 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to confirm that centre Connor Edwards will remain a Knight for the 2022/23 season.

Connor first joined the club in 2021 from Welsh URC side, Dragons, following a successful initial loan period in Doncaster. During the 2021/22 season Connor made 13 appearances in the league as well as playing in 3 cup fixtures – scoring 3 tries in the process.

A quirky character off the field, on the field Connor is an extremely combative back whose favourite aspect of games is either running into contact or taking the hit in the defensive line. He is a powerful player to have amongst the ranks.

Joe Wrafter Re-Signs with the Knights Ahead of 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce that loosehead prop Joe Wrafter has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Joe first joined the club in 2021 from fellow Championship club, Bedford Blues. During the 2021/22 season Joe made 3 appearances in the league as well as playing in 3 cup fixtures in what was a heavily injury-interrupted season for the front rower.

Maintaining a positive outlook, however, Joe is already looking forward to next season and the opportunity to lengthen his game time and help his teammates on the pitch.

“It’s been a frustrating 12 months – I won’t hide away from that – but every dog has its day. I’m looking forward to another season with the club, in which I hope to stay injury free and help the lads win some games.”

Ben Murphy Re-Signs with the Knights Ahead of 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce that lock Ben Murphy has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Ben first joined the club in November 2021 from URC side Cardiff Rugby. During the 2021/22 season Ben made 10 appearances in the league as well as playing in 4 cup fixtures.

An uncompromising forward during game-time, Ben is a fun character amongst his teammates off the field. He has thoroughly enjoyed the squad environment this year, and so, it is with happiness that he re-signs for next season.

“I am very grateful of having the chance to extend my time at Castle Park. I’ve made some unbelievable memories and bonds, on and off the field, that will be with me forever.

“I feel like, as a team, we created something special this season and it’s only a sign of what’s to come.”

Jack Spittle Re-Signs with the Knights Ahead of 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce that wing Jack Spittle has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Jack first joined the club in 2020 from another Championship side, Nottingham. During the 2021/22 season Jack made 11 appearances in the league – scoring 4 tries in the process, despite being ruled out by injury in the second half of the season.

A fast paced and electric winger, Jack is a great resource for any attacking set-up, so fans will be delighted to see him re-signing with the club and back fit in a Knights shirt next season.

“I’m looking forward to making more memories with such a special group. The club is in a great place and I’m excited to be part of it again next season.”

Maliq Holden Re-Signs with the Knights Ahead of 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce that wing Maliq Holden has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Maliq first joined the club in 2021 from Cornish Pirates. During the 2021/22 season Maliq made 15 appearances in the league as well as playing in 3 cup fixtures – finishing the season as the Knights top try-scorer with 12 scored in either the league or cup.

A gregarious individual, Maliq is well-liked by teammates, coaches and fans as his warm personality and performances on field combine. Maliq is delighted to be remaining at Castle Park for next season as the squad looks to push forward again.

“I’m really happy to have re-signed for Doncaster Knights. It has been a brilliant year with the squad on and off the pitch. I’m looking forward to getting back in and improving, and hopefully backing up all the positive things that we achieved as a squad this season.

“We’ve got a special group and the lads who are coming in will only add to that, and that’s really exciting.”

Sam Hudson Re-Signs with the Knights Ahead of 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce that back row Sam Hudson has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Sam first joined the club in 2021 from Championship opposition, Ampthill. During the 2021/22 season Sam made 16 appearances in the league as well as playing in 3 cup fixtures – scoring 4 tries in the process.

A good-natured player off the pitch, Sam’s hard-hitting style on the field sees him pull no punches and he can cause headaches for opposition defences and attacks alike. Sam is happy to be continuing with his teammates for next year in their goal to strive for their best.

“I’m really enjoying my time with Doncaster Knights, and so, I look forward to competing for the title again next year.”

Thom Smith Re-Signs with the Knights Ahead of 2022/23

Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce that back row Thom Smith has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Thom first joined the club in 2021 from Premiership side Leicester Tigers. During the 2021/22 season Thom made 14 appearances in the league as well as playing in 4 Championship cup fixtures – scoring 4 tries in the process.

Always with a smile on his face off the pitch, Thom has been a committed competitor on the field throughout the year. A solid pillar to have at the back of any scrum, he has also been an important ball carrier and defensive player for the Knights.

Thom is looking forward to continuing to build momentum with his teammates from this season into next.

“I’m extremely happy to have signed another season with Doncaster Knights. I’ve enjoyed every minute on and off the field since joining, and that’s testament to the environment we have here.

“It’s an exciting time to be at the club and I’m looking forward to seeing where this group of players can go.”
