#FEELGOODFRIDAY | McColl to make Knights return.
27th April 2018
Full back Steve McColl will return to Castle Park next season having agreed a two-year deal with the Club.
Lynn Howells first brought McColl to South Yorkshire having worked together in the Edinbrugh Academy and he finished the 2010/11 season with 13 tries from 27 appearances.
The Scotsman arrives from Yorkshire Carnegie where he has made 98 appearances and scored 212 points over two separate spells.
McColl signed with Carnegie from the Knights in 2011 and spent three seasons with the Headingley side where his form earned him a call up to the Scotland Six Nations training squad, despite playing outside of the top flight. In 2012-13 he was the Carnegie Players’ Player of the Season and named in the RFU Championship dream team.
Stevie continued to impress for Carnegie and his performances caught the attentions of Aviva Premiership side Gloucester where he made 16 appearances and won the European Challenge Cup before returning to Leeds.
The 29-year-old has continued to be a key performer for Carnegie on his return and scored six tries in 24 appearances, helping the team reach the play of final in 2017.
Commenting on the signing Skills & Backs Coach Paul Cooke said. “We are delighted to add Steve to the squad for next season.
“He’s a player with top flight experience and has been consistently impressive whilst at Carnegie.
“I am looking forward to bringing Steve into our backline and adding to what is already a very talented group of players and making the level of competition even higher”
