The Knights produced their best performance of the season to secure a 38-10 win over Jersey Reds this afternoon.

Six tries, a hat-trick from Kyle Evans, set Doncaster up to dominate the game and were deserving of the five points to push up the Championship table.

Doncaster have started slow in recent games, however they began with a fast paced tempo as they controlled the early encounters.

It took until just the 11th minute for the breakthrough with Evans flying clear in the corner down the right after a good pass from Steve McColl. Sam Olver added the extras to earn the Knights a deserved early lead.

Although, Jersey then fought back and enjoyed their best spell of the first half. A yellow card was shown to Jack Roberts for a high tackle and the visitors made the advantage count when TJ Harris burst clear down the left to score, however in the wind, Brendan Cope missed his conversion.

The home side rallied back and didn’t take their foot off the gas for the rest of the half. Firstly, another fantastic break from Evans drove the Knights into the Jersey 22; with a few phases later Colin Quigley barging over from close range. Olver converted well to make it 14-5 after 28 minutes.

Doncaster’s momentum continued to build from there as the next few phases showed the home side’s control on the game. Evans dotted down his second of the game seven minutes from half time. A good break from Charlie Foley inside the 22, the centre found Guido Volpi, who offloaded superbly to the Welshman Evans to score in the corner.

Clive Griffiths’ side didn’t stop there though as the Knights extended their lead through top try scorer Tyson Lewis. The winger showed his pace in the Jersey 22 after good hands from Olver and McColl once again. The fly-half converted to make the score line 26-5 after the best first half performance of the season from Donny.

After the interval, Doncaster roared on and built on their first half display. Firstly, the Reds were reduced to 14 men when Augustin Slowik was shown a yellow for a deliberate knock on. That allowed the home side to remain camped in the opposition half and replacement Joe Sproston drove over after tapping a penalty himself from close range. Olver slotted away the conversion in difficult conditions making it 33-5.

Jersey did then enjoy their best spell of the second half and scored a consolation try through James Newey after a good passing move.

Conceding only drove the Knights on more and the home side began to control the intensity of the game once more. As the fixture drew to a close, Evans grabbed his hat-trick after another good move in the Jersey 22, with the winger brushing off a couple of tackles to stretch over.

That was the last action of the afternoon as Doncaster ran out worthy winners with six tries and a fantastic all round performance.
