Georgian International signs for the Knights
27th December 2018
The Knights have strengthened their squad ahead of returning to Championship action against Yorkshire Carnegie on Saturday with the latest addition of Lasha Lomidze.
The Georgian International has a wealth of experience across Europe, having played in England, France, Russia and Georgia.
Lasha who can play at either lock, blindside flanker or No. 8, has played 46 times for Georgia including appearances at the 2015 World Cup where eventual winners New Zealand were their opponents in Pool C.
Born in Tiblisi, Lasha began his career at French TOP 14 side Montpellier in 2012 where he spent two seasons before making the move to Beziers. A move to play in Russia materialised in early 2017, before joining London Irish in the Premiership last season.
The 26-year-old most recently played for Division 2 Georgian side Aurillac RFC and is in contention to be the squad for Saturday’s game against Yorkshire Carnegie.
Director of Rugby Clive Griffiths was pleased to add the 6’5 lock to the Knights squad. “Lasha is a great signing for the club and an experienced International for Georgia, who are one of the most progressive nationals teams in the world. With injuries in the side, we needed to make a good addition and Lasha is just that.”
