International Rugby at Castle Park
12th December 2014
England Under 18 will take on France at Doncaster Rugby Club’s Castle Park on Sunday, February 22 (kick-off 2pm).
Castle Park has been selected as the host venue for an exciting international fixture between England and France U18s. England last faced France during their August summer tour to South Africa, running out 23-6 winners in George on their way to an unbeaten season.
Head Coach John Fletcher said: “We’re looking forward to heading to Doncaster for this game against France. They’re always extremely tough opponents and it’ll be no different this time around. We’re hoping that we get a good home support behind us and put in a strong performance.”
Recent graduates of the Under 18 programme includes the likes of Senior internationals Jack Nowell, Anthony Watson, Owen Farrell, George Ford and Billy Vunipola, and Fletcher says that the game against France will be a good chance for fans to see potential international players of the future.
“Over the past few years we have seen a number of players progress through the system to Stuart Lancaster’s England side and perform well,” he added. “There is no doubt and there will be some talented players on show in Doncaster from England and France.”
The clash comes just a day after the Knights Greene King IPA fixture with Bristol Rugby and we are delighted to announce that Knights fans can take advantage of concessionary discounts. Just show your season ticket or Knights v Bristol match day ticket for £5 admission; furthermore under 16s are free on the terraces with a paying adult. Doncaster Knights CEO David Ryall added: “We were delighted to learn that the England Under 18 team management picked Castle Park as their venue of choice for the international match against France.
“We are equally delighted that we are in a position to host the international, which will provide rugby enthusiasts with a weekend of back-to-back rugby union with Doncaster Knights playing Bristol Rugby in the Green King IPA Championship on Saturday, 21 February and then England Under 18 against France on the Sunday.”
