Knights confirm dual-reg trio for new campaign.
1st September 2021
The Doncaster Knights squad for will be boosted for the 2021/22 season by three dual-registered Premiership talents.
Conrad Cade (Newcastle Falcons), Gus Warr (Sale Sharks) & Will Vaughan (Bath Rugby) will all be registered to the Knights 2021/22 roster.
Loose head prop Conrad Cade and scrum-half Gus Warr return for 2021/22 having played significant roles in the Club’s third place finish last season.
24-year-old Cade featured in all 10 Championship games, starting in four, and Head Coach Steve Boden is delighted to have him back at Castle Park. “We feel like Conrad developed massively with us last season and we have agreed that he will have another season here, continuing our close relationship with Newcastle.
“He has a great attitude and fits in with the squad very well, we believe that with more game time in the Championship he can keep develop into one of the stand out loose heads in the league and have a big future ahead of him.”
Gus Warr returned to Castle Park last summer having featured briefly towards the end of the 2019/20 season.
The 21-year-old fought of competition from James Mitchell and Sam Pocklington to start six league fixtures, chipping in with a crucial score against Nottingham and Bodes expects big things from the youngster again this year. “We have a good relationship with Sale, they want Gus to get more game time and it is credit to Gus that he managed that in a competitive scrum-half group last season.
“We believe the competition will be extremely high in the position again this year and look forward to seeing Gus continue to improve and go back to Sale a better player.”
Bath Rugby prop forward Will Vaughan is the final man drafted in, and arrives with prior Championship experience, after spending time with Jersey Reds and Yorkshire Carnegie while contracted to the West-Country side.
The 23-year-old has been part of the Bath development set up since he was 14, earning representative honours with England at Under 16 & 18 level before picking up 10 first team appearances.
The loose head brings more competition to the Knights front-row options which Bodes believes will benefit both Will and the Knights. “We are very happy to bring Will on board and play a part in his development, he needs to play rugby and individual coaching which we believe we can offer & we look forward to seeing how he goes in a Donny jersey.”
