Knights Sign Second Row Murphy From Cardiff Rugby

The club are pleased to announce the signing of second row, Ben Murphy, until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The lock arrives from Cardiff Rugby in the United Rugby Championship where he played 19 times for the Welsh province in the Anglo-Welsh Cup, European Challenge Cup, Pro14 and Rainbow Cup competitions.

Discussing Ben’s signing, Head Coach Steve Boden said: “I’m looking forward to welcoming Ben into Knights training. I think he’s a young and combative second row who is hungry for game time, so will create some extra competition amongst our forwards.”

“We are short a second row due to the departure of Ronan McCusker, so Ben will provide cover. We’re delighted to welcome him and see what he can achieve in the rest of the season.”

Welsh-born, Ben has played for Cardiff Rugby since joining their Academy from Abercynon RFC. The second row made his senior team debut in 2017 against Newcastle Falcons.

The 25-year-old forward joins the Knights as a young player keen to secure game time.

“I’ve loved every minute of my time at Cardiff and I’d like to thank all the players, the coaches and everyone who has supported me during my time at the club.”

“I’ve made some great memories with some great people, but I’m now looking forward to making new ones at Doncaster and facing a fresh challenge.”

“I’m excited to link up with the boys at Castle Park and want to contribute as much as I possibly can to the team.”
