Cameron Cowell enters the 2019/20 season as a permanent Knights signing for the first time and feels like playing in Doncaster is ‘more like home’ now.
The speedster joined from Newcastle Falcons after two stints on loan from the recently relegated Premiership side.
“It is definitely a different feeling, this is my first full pre-season with the Knights so it feels more like home now rather than chopping and changing and going up the motorway. I now have a nice flat with a couple of lads so yes I am happy and settled.”
The full-back is five weeks into his first full pre-season in Doncaster and is pleased with how training has progressed since the Knights returned to Castle Park to prepare for the upcoming season.
“It has gone pretty well, it has been pretty tough, we are bringing a lot more rugby and skills element to it rather than mass running so it is quite nice to have that rather than running line to line.”
Cameron made 18 starting appearances last season, scoring six tries and has seen the impact of new coaches, Steve Boden, Tom Smith and Francis Cummins since they joined the Knights. The 22-year-old is also pleased that the longer pre-season will aid the squad to be prepared and organised going into the first game of the season on the 21st September.
Given that the pre-season is longer it gives us time to do that and is something we’ve already started on so it is going to be very helpful for us and hopefully when it comes to playing we are all switched on.”
