Strength and Conditioning Coach Dougie Flockhart is aiming to make the Knights stronger ahead of the 2019/20 season as well as cement his place in the starting side.
The 34-year-old has been pleased with the opening few weeks of pre-season as he looks to improve the squad’s fitness.
“It has gone great, we came in early and did our testing which identified our strengths and weaknesses in the squad and we are working to eradicate those weaknesses and try make the players stronger and more physical for the upcoming season.”
Dougie has also made a change to the type of activities the Knights have been doing in pre-season with a varied programme so far. The Knights have been training at various sporting centres around Doncaster as they prepare for the season ahead.
“This year we have gone out and done some different activities, we have been boxing, we’ve been sprinting, wrestling and swimming so we are trying to vary where the players are and what they are doing to freshen things up and make them strong for the upcoming season.”
The winger scored 185 points last season from 11 appearances and will continue his dual role as a player for the 2019/20 season with Dougie looking to grasp his place in the starting Knights team that face Hartpury at Castle Park on the 21st September in the RFU Championship Cup.
“My ambitions initially for the season ahead are to cement my place in the team and be a part of a strong team that is going to be successful this season.”
