Jack’s back for 2017/18.

Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce the re-signing of the 2017/18 Players’ Player of the Season - flanker Jack Ram.

As the countdown to the play-offs enters its final week we are able to announce that one of the season’s key performers recommits to the Club for next season in the form of Players’ Player of the Season Jack Ram.

The Tongan flanker has been a revelation since signing at Castle Park in December, featuring in ten of the twelve games that followed his arrival - dotting down for three tries in the process.

Ram’s efforts over the past five months saw him scoop the prestigious Players Player of the Season award at last Friday’s Awards Evening and the he is fast developing a reputation as one of the very best flankers in the Championship.

The 30-year-old made the long journey to South Yorkshire from the New Zealand province of Northlands where he was a mainstay in their ITM Cup team having featured in all three of Tonga’s autumn victories over USA, Spain and Italy.

Jack will continue his international duty with Tonga this summer and return to represent Northland in their 2017 ITM Cup campaign before joining his Knights teammates upon the completion of Northland’s competition.

Talking on Jack’s contract extension, Director of Rugby Clive Griffiths admits he is over the moon to have Jack back on board and that his signing is a statement of intent for the Club going forward. “Jack has proved to be an outstanding acquisition for us since arriving in late 2016, he has continued the terrific form he showed on international duty for Tonga in November.

“We knew his pedigree when he arrived having featured in a World Cup and in Super Rugby for Auckland but he has adapted seamlessly to playing over here and hit the ground running.

“It is a big capture to have re-secured Jack’s services for 2017/18 and I am delighted to bring him back on board and continue the development of the team ahead of next season.”

Jack missed the final game of the regular season through injury and the Club’s medical team are waiting on a decision to whether he will feature in the play-off semi-finals.
