Knights aim to be second team to defeat Coventry at home

Doncaster travel to Coventry in the penultimate Championship Cup fixture tomorrow.

The newly promoted team have only lost once at home this season, to last season’s relegated Premiership side London Irish.

The reverse match at Castle Park ended in a deserved 20-19 victory for the Knights, after tries from Will Owen and Ciaran Booth handed a first Championship Cup win to Doncaster.

DoR Clive Griffiths has made several changes to the side that were unfortunate to lose to Yorkshire Carnegie last weekend.

In the backs, Steve McColl, Cameron Cowell and Dougie Flockhart all return to the starting line-up. While Fijian International Henry Seniloli is set to make his first start of the season.

Rory Pitman, Colin Quigley and Robin Hislop make their way back, with new signing Mike Mayhew ready for his first start since joining the Knights last month.

Forwards Coach Glen Kenworthy spoke earlier this week about the match. “On our day we can beat anyone, we will go there in a confident mood and to impose ourselves in the way we want to play.

Coventry at home is a different team, they have a loud crowd and the boys are looking forward to playing in front of that.”
