Knights receive Tigers boost.

With the new Championship season just around the corner the Knights are pleased to announce some significant additions from Welford Road.

An agreement has been reached in the last 24 hours that means the Knights will welcome six members of the Tigers squad to Castle Park this season. IT has been confirmed that Italian prop forward pairing Riccardo Brugnara and Tiziano Pasquali will return as well as hooker Harry Thackar, flanker Will Owen, centre Rhys Davis Williams & scrum half George Tressider, all of whom will be available at various stages of the season on Dual Registration.

Riccardo Brugnara: Knights fans welcome back a familiar face from Welford Road in loose head prop Riccardo Brugnara. The 20-year-old played a pivotal role in the Knights National Division One winning campaign spending much of the season at Castle Park. The Italian Under 20s front rower proved himself more than capable in English rugby’s third tier and will provide Griff with another option for the number one jersey in addition to Richard List and Tom Davies.

Tiziano Pasquali: Brugnara’s Italy Under 20 teammate Tiziano Pasquali is another Leicester player who has spent time in the Knights colours. Tiz made a number of appearances in the 2013/14 season in between call ups to the Tigers senior squad. The 20-year-old is a dynamic, ball-carrying prop and will continue his development with the Knights this season.

Harry Thacker: 20-year-old hooker Harry Thacker already has experience of the Green King IPA Championship having spent time on loan with Nottingham last season. Currently part of the England Under 20s set up he got his first call up to the Leicester senior side aged just 17 when he was selected on the bench for an LV Cup game versus Harlequins. Last season saw Harry make his first start for the Tigers, versus the Ospreys in the LV Cup, and also his England Under 20s debut versus France.

Will Owen: Teenage flanker Will Owen is the fourth and final forward who will be available to the Knights during this season. Owen is another Tigers academy member who is currently part of the England Under 20s set up having made two appearances with the age group in this years six nations. Will joined the Tigers academy aged 15 and will now look to further his senior rugby experience with the Knights.

Rhys Davis Williams: At just 19, centre Rhys Williams seems set to have a big future in the game ahead of him. Rhys has played a significant role in the Tigers pre-season as well as featuring in the Tigers Premiership 7s side alongside Knights winger Andrew Bulumakau. Last season Williams made Tigers senior appearances in the LV Cup and has also represented Wales at U18 level.

George Tressider: Scrum half George Tressider will provide Griff with another option at halfback following the news of the signing of Tomasi Palu and Jack Maplesend earlier this week. Tressider has been an influential member of the Tigers academy for several seasons now, captaining the squad on various occasions last season.

This influx of new talent just one day before the start of the start of the new season is a massive boost for the Knights and provides the coaching staff with a depth of squad that is crucial especially when injuries and unavailabilities often play such a significant role in a side’s success.
