Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce the signing of full back Sean Scanlon from Rotherham Titans for 2016/17 campaign

Irish-born Scanlon arrives from Clifton Lane having spent three seasons with the Titans playing a crucial part in their playoff campaigns in 2013/14 and 2014/15.

The 27-year old started his rugby career with Irish Pro 12 powerhouse Munster Rugby, making a try-scoring debut in December 2011 versus Connacht. The speedster collected age grade international honours with Ireland Under 20s winning seven caps.

The speedster will compete in a competitive looking Knights backline which has already added Sean’s current Titans teammate Lloyd Hayes. Commenting on his switch Scanlon said that he felt enthusiastic and privileged to be joining the Knights. “I see joining Doncaster as an exciting opportunity.

“First and foremost, they are top four team. There is a quality squad being put together for next season and I'm delighted to be joining an ambitious club with great facilities and quality coaches.”

Sean becomes the Knights’ fourth new signing taking next year’s squad up to 21, speaking on the addition of the Titan mainstay DoR Clive Griffths said. “Sean is an experienced player at this level, he knows the territory.

“He’s a damn good player, one we’ve had to watch when we’ve been playing Rotherham. He’s a very good counterattacking player and will add strength and versatility to the squad.

“He is capable on the wing as is Paul Jarvis, so his versatility is welcomed - he’s still quite young but his experience is impressive.

“When he became available, it was perfect in terms of the logistics of it because it was just a hop over the divide and I’m delighted to have him on board.”
