Steve Boden this week began his role as Assistant Coach and is excited to be back at the club after returning to Castle Park after seven years.
The 36-year-old is thrilled with his new role and is happy to be a part of Knights’ coaching staff.
“It is a great role, I am excited to be back at the club and it is a club I am pretty passionate about and I played a lot of games here and have a lot friends here and in the area, so it is great to be back, a few things have changed since I have been here so yes it is great to be back.”
Steve was persuaded to join the club by his affiliated to the Knights during his playing career, where he featured for Doncaster from 2005 to 2012.
“I know Clive and the club really well and obviously I have a connection to the club from the playing side of things so I can think that is the main thing, if you have a connection to a club it is quite easy to buy into what they are about and I know roughly what the ethos of the club has been built on for years, so that is what probably attracted me the most.”
The former Yorkshire Carnegie coach is also enjoying his current role with a varied day to day working life.
“I am coaching a bit of everything at the moment which I quite enjoy so it could be some running lines with the forwards with Tom or it could be a bit of line out work so I am dipping my hand into a few different things. I enjoy the role and being able to coach different parts of the game.”
Steve is aiming to help create a positive environment at the club and believes that being challenged will improve him as a coach with the Knights.
“To be a part of an enjoyable environment, a good place to work and just try and be better. I do it as a coach I want to be challenged myself by the players and other members of staff and I think that makes for a good environment to work in and if you have a good environment to work in I think usually the end product will be you’ll play a better brand of rugby.”
