The former Scotland Captain has previous coaching experience at Edinburgh and Lyon, where he was the Assistant coach. While the 47-year-old was the Director of Rugby at French side USB Bergerac, taking the club from Federale 3 to Federale 1 in consecutive seasons and managing them from amateur to professional over a five-year-period.
Most recently from 2017 to 2019, Tom was the Head Coach at French D2 side Perigueux and has now signed a three-year-deal at Castle Park.
The Scotsman had a vastly experienced playing career as he played 191 games for Northampton Saints. An ex Prop, Tom was also on the 1997 and 2001 British and Lions Tour and made 61 appearances for Scotland as well captaining his national side on several occasions.
Tom retired from rugby in 2009 and took a forwards coach role at Edinburgh, where he helped the side reach the Heineken semi-final in 2012.
