Biography

Scrum half Alex Dolly made the switch to Castle Park having enjoyed a breakout season with rivals Nottingham which saw him named in the Championship Clubs Podcast team of the season for 2020/21.

Born and raised in Australia, Alex – who is English-qualified through his grandfather – originally moved to the UK in 2017 to play cricket before getting a taste for rugby with Fylde. He would ultimately play 21 times for the Lancashire side before catching the attention of Jersey Reds.

Having spent the 2018/19 season with Rotherham Titans in National One, Alex signed for Nottingham in April 2019. He featured 28 times for the green and whites before switching colours to the Donny red and blue.

Alex was a crucial part of the Knights team in his first season, forming a firm half-back partnership with Sam Olver which saw communication on the field cemented between the forwards and backs. Playing his part in 20 games last season, Alex contributed 60 points – 3 penalties, 13 conversions and 5 tries.

Now one of the more senior Knights with 44 appearances, Alex’s handling is still as swift as ever and his instructions for his teammates crystal clear as he looks to compete to maintain his starting berth against new faces this season.
