Biography

Full-back and fly-half Billy McBryde joined the Knights in the summer of 2020 as the Welsh Premiership’s top points scorer having notched up 163 points, including 6 tries, for RGC.

Billy joined the North Walian side ahead of the 2018/19 season and played 50 consecutive games for them having developed through the Scarlets and Llanelli youth divisions.

Making his Llanelli debut at age 18, it was only a year and a half later that Billy was debuting for Scarlets against Bath in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

Selected for Welsh U20s duty in 2016, Billy featured well in both their Six Nations and World Rugby U20s Championship campaigns.

Since arriving in Doncaster, it would be fair to say that Billy has become a firm fan-favourite. His performances on the pitch and friendly demeanour off the turf quickly endeared him to the Castle Park crowd.

No Knights fan will soon be forgetting his length of the pitch interception tries against Ealing Trailfinders or Nottingham – a feat he mastered both at home and away!

Named to the Champ Rugby Team of the Season in 2021/22, Billy’s commitment to the team and it’s morale was recognised at the Knights Awards Evening that season as he was named Knight of the Season.

Having secured his 50th appearance at the culmination of the 2022/23 season, Billy will have new competition to contend with as he tests his merits in both the full-back and fly-half shirts.
