Biography

Fly-half Sam Olver has been a main-stay for the Knights since arriving, originally on a loan spell, from Ealing Trailfinders in December 2018.

An experienced half-back with vital game management skills on the pitch, Sam started his professional career with Premiership side, Northampton Saints – a club for whom he earned a senior contract in March 2013 and went on to make 14 appearances for. During his time at Franklin’s Gardens, Sam helped Northampton Wanderers to three Aviva A League finals in four seasons.

Following his time with Saints, Sam earned a contract with Worcester Warriors, making 14 appearances and scoring 61 points. Additionally, Sam has represented England at U18s and U20s level – playing four tests for the U20s during their 2014 Six Nations Championship.

Since arriving in Donny, Sam has been a consistent performer – continually at the top of the Knights points scoring charts and with his place-kicking often being pivotal to clinching games.

During the 2021/22 season, Sam marked his 50th appearance for the Knights in a 27-24 victory over Jersey Reds at Castle Park and finished the season being shortlisted for the Champ Rugby Team of the Season.

Knights fans will be delighted to have the crowd favourite back on kicking duty and helping to usher the back-line this season as he also looks to closer in on the major milestone of 100 appearances as he starts the season sitting on 91.
