Biography

Winger Maliq Holden had Championship experience before arriving in Doncaster in July 2021. Beginning with Hartpury, Maliq then made the switch to Penzance in May 2018 to feature for Cornish Pirates.

A former Netherlands junior international, Maliq has also represented England Students and Bristol United in the A-league set-up.

A regular feature for the Pirates, Maliq made 29 appearances during his time down in Cornwall, securing the Most Improved Player award in 2020 before heading north to Doncaster.

Throughout his first season at Castle Park, Maliq encountered tough competition for a starting berth on the wing, eventually making his debut for the Knights in November 2021 against Richmond – quickly enthralling the Castle Park crowd as he scored a try just 2 minutes in.

Since then Maliq has made a total of 47 Knights appearances – regularly finishing the season as one of, if not the, squad’s leading try scorers. Alongside this, he was shortlisted for the Champ Rugby Team of the Season for 2021/22.

With new competition to contend with this season on the wing, Maliq will be looking to start in strong form and show that he is heading for another season of impressive performances, chart-topping tries and securing that all-important 50th appearance.
