Biography

Scrum-half Will discovered his passion for rugby while at school at Woodhouse Grove, an independent school in West Yorkshire, and developed his ability playing for Leeds-based club, West Park, where he completed many season making his way through their ranks.

From those positions, he was spotted by the Yorkshire academy and represented them at county level too. In 2021, Metcalfe joined East Riding side, Hull Ionians, and was an integral player during their season.

As a nifty player, Doncaster Knights spotted his ability and drafted him into our academy system, where he honed in on his skills, gaining game time across Yorkshire.

Metcalfe spent the 2023/24 season on loan at local club, Rotherham Titans, where he helped them secure promotion to National 1, whilst also balancing appearances for the Knights.

With the likes of Alex Dolly and Ollie Fox still in the squad, we understand game time will be harder to come by for the youngster, so will spend the majority of this season on loan at Bury St. Edmunds, and look forward to everything Will will learn during his time in the South East.
