Past Players Event Postponed

We are sad to announce that the annual DRFC Past Players event on April 25th will no longer take place on the date scheduled.

At this moment it is unclear whether matches will be rescheduled after the official suspension date (April 14th) and following discussions with the event organisers we have taken the decision to postpone the lunch, with a view to rescheduling once the picture is a little clearer.

We would like to be clear that at this moment in time our fixture with Ampthill RUFC on April 25th is still on, however, it is a very fluid situation that could change at short notice.

Any bookings that have been made & paid for will be valid for when the event does take place. We appreciate everyone’s support and patience during these uncertain times.

Castle Park Notice to all Customers

Due to the current COVID 19 outbreak across the world and recent Government Guidelines regarding public safety we have had large scale cancellations of events here at Castle Park for the next 2 weeks.

You may also be aware that the RFU have suspended all Rugby activity until at least 14th April 2020, which means there are no players or playing personnel on site either. For this reason we have taken the decision to close the site on days in which we have no events booked, for the safety of our staff and customers.

However, we are by no means closed for business and all of our staff members can still be contacted off site on company mobiles and email addresses. We are not actively enforcing closures on any private functions booked with us at present, and indeed some hosts have chosen to proceed with their events in the coming weeks, in which case we will be opening the site up for business as usual.

Every necessary procedure is in place to protect both our staff and customers during this difficult time and we will continue to provide the very best service possible to our community. If you are at all worried about an event you have booked with us or would like to check availability for a future booking please get in touch with our events team on 01302 831388 or email

Sheffield Eagles will play three fixtures at Castle Park this year

Castle Park will host the opening three home fixtures of Sheffield Eagles in their 2020 Betfred Championship season.

Sunday 16th February – 3PM – Toulouse Olympique

Sunday 22nd March – 3PM – Widnes Vikings

Wednesday 15th April – 7.30PM – Oldham Roughyeds

Currently playing the Rugby League Bedfred Championship the side will play their third league game of the campaign at Castle Park, when the French outfit Toulouse arrive in Doncaster.

Last season’s 11th placed Widnes Viking will travel north to Castle Park in late March for Sheffield’s second ‘home’ game of the season.

While the fixture against Oldham will be round nine of the 2020 Championship campaign for the Eagles.

Construction of their new stadium at the Olympic Legacy Park is commencing with noticeable work now taking place on the wider site which directly relates to the building of the stadium.

Speaking of the move, Eagles General Manager Liam Claffey said, “I’d like to thank the team at Doncaster Knights for helping accommodate these three fixtures.”

“When weighing up this decision it was the view of the Board that it could be no longer than what we have announced. We are Sheffield Eagles; Sheffield is our home and we are proud to represent the Steel City.

“With so many moving parts surrounding the new stadium at the Olympic Legacy Park we as a club needed further time to ensure the Olympic Legacy Park would provide a safe and suitable match day venue with the adequate facilities in place whilst construction occurs on the site.

“This short-term move provides more time to ensure a suitably welcoming environment at the OLP ahead of the new stadium being completed in September and allows the early-stages of construction to take place without interruption from staging professional rugby league matches.”

The Eagles will be putting on heavily subsided travel from the Olympic Legacy Park to Castle Park for all three matches along with ticket offers details of both to be announced shortly.

Commercial Manger at Doncaster Knights, Michael Casey said: “It was an absolute pleasure to be able to host the People Focused Group Christmas party at Castle Park. Staff and members of the Knights first team all joined in & it was a really happy & community spirited afternoon.

We have been working alongside the People Focused Group (PFG) for a few months now and the support they offer to people in our community is amazing and is actually quite overwhelming.

We are really looking forward to forging closer ties with PFG in 2020 along with some of the other fantastic community interest groups operating locally.”
