Knights sign lock, Ben Glanville
24th June 2026
Doncaster Knights are delighted to announce the signing of second row Ben Glanville.
Glanville joins the club after an outstanding spell with Nottingham University, where he established himself as one of the standout performers in BUCS Super Rugby and captained the side during his final season.
A hard-working and highly effective forward, Ben consistently impressed with his performances week after week. His statistical output highlighted his influence on games, regularly recording high tackle success rates, dominant collisions, and a relentless work rate around the field.
His impressive form did not go unnoticed, earning him an invitation to train with Newcastle Red Bulls towards the end of last season, providing further recognition of his potential and ability to perform at a higher level.
As well as his defensive qualities, Glanville brings excellent set-piece attributes to the Knights pack. His presence in the lineout and understanding of forward play will provide another valuable option for the squad and strengthen an area that remains central to the club’s success.
Leadership has also been a key part of Ben’s development. Captaining Nottingham University in one of the most competitive university rugby competitions in the country has equipped him with valuable experience and helped shape him into a mature and driven player.
Still at the beginning of his rugby journey, Glanville arrives at Castle Park with plenty of potential and ambition. His work ethic, physicality, and set-piece expertise make him an exciting addition to the Knights squad as the club continues to build for the future.
Head of recruitment Matt Harland said:
“Having spent the end of last season training with the Red Bulls, it shows the level of interest there is around Ben and the potential he possesses. He’s another northern lad and someone we’re really excited to bring to Castle Park.”
“Ben captained the University of Nottingham and is a player who leads from the front. He has all the qualities we look for, and we’re looking forward to seeing him make the step up to Championship rugby, where we believe his game will go from strength to strength.”
New signing Ben Glanville said:
“It’s a privilege to be given this great opportunity with such a prestigious club. I’m very excited to get started in pre-season, meet all the lads, and set a solid foundation for the Champ season to come.”
