Victoria Cross Trust raise £800 at Knights vs London Scottish game

The Victoria Cross Trust have raised more than £800 when fundraising at Doncaster Knights’ fixture with London Scottish.

The trust would like to thank all Knights’ supporters, sponsors, visitors and guests for contributing to the fundraiser, which took place via a stand in the concourse as well as a raffle which took place during the past players lunch in Arms Park.

The Victoria Cross Trust are a charity who are dedicated to the upkeep of the graves and the memory of Victoria Cross recipients.

Many of the recipients have given their lives in military conflict around the world. It is awarded to those individuals who display the most conspicuous gallantry, a daring or pre-eminent act of valour of self-sacrifice or extreme devotion to duty.

The Victoria Cross Trust is a charitable organisation that works tirelessly to ensure the memory and graves of every Victoria Cross recipient are remembered and maintained for generations to come. While The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) takes responsibility for those killed in action during World War I and II, the Victoria Cross Trust works with families and relatives of the brave men whos grave fall outside the remit of the CWGC to provide the same level of care and maintenance to their graves.

The funds raised at the Knights’ match will be dedicated to the cleaning of Doncaster war memorials. The first of which was completed in Braithwell this month (pictured).
